This monumental piece, measuring an impressive 2.5 by 1.5 meters, was created for Titan Distillers and showcases the pinnacle of my skills in glass gilding and signwriting.

A Tribute to Tradition

Titan Distillers wanted something extraordinary—a piece that not only highlighted their brand but also resonated with the rich heritage of Belfast’s shipbuilding history. The mirror’s design draws inspiration from the Pump House itself, incorporating the timeless blue tones that have adorned this historic structure for decades.

A Showcase of Techniques

This project brought together more than six advanced techniques in glass artistry, each contributing to the mirror’s stunning visual impact:

• Acid Etching: To achieve intricate textures and depth.

• Gloss Gilding: Using 23-carat gold for a radiant and luxurious finish.

• Matte Gilding: Adding a sophisticated contrast to the design.

• Blending: Seamlessly merging colors for a polished, professional look.

• Shadowing: Enhancing the dimensionality of the lettering and design.

• Convex Style: Creating an illusion of depth and curvature.

Every detail was carefully considered, from the shimmering gold accents to the flawless painted elements that celebrate the Pump House’s heritage.

A Journey Across Borders

The mirror’s creation was an international effort. Crafted in London, the piece was meticulously packed and transported overland to Northern Ireland, ensuring its safe arrival at the Pump House. Once installed, it became a centerpiece of Titan Distillers’ space, captivating visitors with its elegance and storytelling.
